Some of the things you do for your business, you’d do for free. Bookkeeping isn’t one of them.

So hand it over. Just the books? We’ve got you. Payroll too? Say the word. And look — the day you need somebody who can help you see and prepare for what’s coming before it gets here? That’s the work I actually love.

Sound familiar?

1

Square, Cash App, Zelle, cash. Money arrives four different ways and nothing is withheld on any of it. You found out about quarterly payments when the IRS sent the bill for not making them.

2

It’s eleven at night and you’re categorizing receipts instead of sleeping. This is not the part of the business you dreamed of.

3

You pay people as contractors. Everybody in your industry pays people as contractors. The auditor has a different opinion.

4

You get reports. What you want is a partner — somebody who understands the vision, and hands you what you need to act on it before the moment passes.

The businesses other firms overlook.

Gig workers and the self-employed. Creators and convention sellers. Barbershops and salons. Auto repair and buy-here-pay-here dealers. Comic shops. Home care agencies.

Every one of those has real books and real exposure. Most firms price them like an afterthought or pass on them entirely. I never understood that — the work is the same work, and some of it is harder than what those firms took instead.

Everything else, including the specialized bookkeeping work.

Trades and contractors. Agencies. SaaS companies. Retail and marketplace sellers. Professional services. Multi-entity groups.

Construction job costing — cost codes matched across systems, work-in-progress that ties, retainage nobody is tracking.
SaaS revenue recognition — deferred schedules that recompute themselves, contracts recognized but never invoiced.
Multi-entity consolidations and intercompany allocations.
Inventory and cost of goods for product and marketplace sellers.
Completed-contract recognition for permit-driven trades.
Digital assets and crypto — exchange and wallet activity brought into the books, cost basis tracked per disposal, and tokens checked against the real contract before they land on a balance sheet.
Behind a year? Say it out loud.
Cleanup is a service, not a confession.

Catch-up bookkeeping, however many years back it goes. We bring it current, reconcile it forward, and tell you plainly what could not be recovered.

Level one

Get set up

For people working for themselves.
A separate account structure and categories that match how you actually earn. Your platforms connected. Mileage and expenses captured without you remembering to. Quarterly estimates calculated, so the number isn’t a guess. A year-end package your preparer can use. And coaching, if you’d rather run it yourself with somebody checking your work.
Level two

Keep the books

Monthly bookkeeping for small business.
Monthly bookkeeping and the close. Bank and card reconciliation. Accounts payable and receivable. Sales tax filed. Vendor tracking and 1099s out on time. Inventory and fixed assets where you have them. Year-end packaged so your CPA has what they need and doesn’t have to call you.
Level three

Take care of your people. Cover yourself.

Everybody paid right, and the exposure off you.
Payroll every period with the filings behind it. Multi-state withholding and registration. Workers’ comp class codes and premium audits. PEO selection, migration and reconciliation. And contractor classification — the part most firms list as a line item and never actually look at.
Level four

See what’s coming

Fractional controller.
We own the close, on a date you can plan around. Budget against actual every month. Thirteen weeks of cash laid out ahead of you. Multi-entity consolidations. A chart of accounts built so you can see margin by what actually drives it. And a standing call where we go through it together.
Not somebody reporting at you. A partner who knows where you’re taking this.
Good Books is built so it doesn’t depend on one person. There’s a bench, and it grows when the work does.

Florida is auditing worker classification right now.

Three to five years back. Findings reported to the IRS. And a contractor agreement is close to worthless as a defense, because the state applies its own ten-factor test.

I have defended one of these audits in California — the hardest state in the country for it — and won. The work worth doing is the work you do before a notice shows up.
