We Changed Our Pricing for Comic Creators. Here’s Why.
Our old pricing for comic creators started at $275 a month.
That number wasn’t high. For a business under $100K in revenue, $200 to $500 a month is what bookkeeping costs in 2026. We were right in the middle of the market.
It was still wrong, and it took us a while to see why.
The problem wasn’t the price. It was the shape.
A creator who does three shows a year doesn’t have twelve months of books to close. They have three busy weekends, a print run, a Patreon that ticks along, and a lot of quiet months in between.
We were selling monthly bookkeeping to people who don’t have a monthly business.
You can’t fix that with a discount. A cheaper version of the wrong service is still the wrong service. So we rebuilt the whole thing around how creators actually work.
What’s new
One Clean Year — $795, once a year. One tax-ready file. No monthly close, no reports to read, no meter running. If you’ve been avoiding this because it felt like signing up for another monthly bill, this is the version without one. We even run your file in QuickBooks Ledger at no extra cost, so there’s no software subscription to buy either.
Table Start — $145/mo, closed quarterly. For solo creators doing a few shows plus some online orders. Quarterly close is the same work on a longer cycle, which is why it costs less than a monthly plan at the same volume. You get real numbers ahead of your estimated tax dates.
Convention Circuit — $495/mo, closed monthly. Show-by-show P&L is the centerpiece. Every show, included. This is the tier for creators running a real circuit.
Publisher Stack — $950/mo, closed monthly. Crowdfunding revenue recognition, per-title P&L, contractor tracking.
Show Close — $85 per show. A profit-and-loss for one weekend. Not a close of your books, just a straight answer on whether that show paid. Send us the numbers and you’ll have it within 10 business days.
We also fixed how we count
Our old plans capped you at 75 transactions a month. That sounds generous until you do a con.
Two hundred people tap a card at your reader over a weekend. Under the old cap, you’d have blown your limit by Saturday afternoon — punished for having a good show.
But that’s not what shows up in your books. Square doesn’t send you two hundred deposits. It sends one, on Monday, for the whole weekend. That deposit is one line. Add your table fee, hotel, gas, and print order, and the entire con is about seven lines of work.
So we count book lines now, not sales. We count the work, not the crowd.
If you want to track this yourself, our free Convention Money Starter Kit does the math for you.
Try us once
If you start with One Clean Year and decide partway through that you want numbers during the year, the full $795 comes off your first quarter on a monthly or quarterly plan. Anything left over rides into the next one.
Try us once. If it’s working, you’re not paying twice to keep going.
The honest part
This costs us money in year one. A creator who used to pay $3,650 in their first year now pays closer to $1,935.
We think that’s the right trade. We’d rather have the right service at a fair price than the wrong service at a defensible one.
Your books tell a story. Let’s make it a clean one.
